Few activities have meant more to my development than travel, and no single chapter in my life has had as profound an effect on my consciousness as the two years during which I had to live, learn, communicate and behave according to a set of social, cultural and linguistic norms radically different from the ones native to me. That is why I am strongly in favor of study abroad for college students. I think the oft-repeated quote of Mark Twain about travel is true.
