Lon A. Porter, Jr. was born in Houston, Texas, in 1977. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Houston and pursued undergraduate research with Professor T. R. Lee. After receiving a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, he commenced his doctoral studies in 1999 with Professor Jillian M. Buriak at Purdue University. In 2003 he was appointed the Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Wabash College, IN. Currently, Dr. Porter engages in research with undergraduates in inorganic materials chemistry and nanotechnology.
