Write a paper (c. 3 pp. or 900 words) in which you discuss an issue or problem that arises for one the accounts of knowledge we discuss during the first three weeks of the course.
• Your paper should include a description of the account of knowledge you are considering, but it need not present all aspects of the account. Simply be sure you provide enough detail so a reader could understand the issue or problem you are considering.
• The issue or problem may be one the account handles successfully or unsuccessfully or one for which its success is unclear. In any case, you should present your own assessment of its success.
• You should avoid merely reporting a discussion in something you’ve read, but your discussion need not be vastly different and may differ in any number of different ways. You might simply consider an example different those used in what you’ve (though it might be analogous to one of them). You might make a different assessment of the success with which the problem or issue is handled. And you might address a problem or issue differing from those discussed in the reading. That is, while the discussion should be in some way your own, you may discuss an issue that was discussed in what you’ve read; and, while you should consider an account of knowledge that you’ve seen in the reading, your discussion of it may address an aspect of it other than those you’ve seen discussed.
Although I will be happy to accept hard copies of these, I’d prefer to receive them via e-mail, as attachments or (if there is no special formatting) in the body of a message.
