Homework on §1.2—assigned Mon 9/1 and due Wed 9/3
(1) Order the following sentences according to relations of entailment (as is done in the examples in 1.2.2): There was a storm; The weather was not fair; There was a category 4 hurricane; There was a storm but there was no storm; There was a hurricane. (Assume that being in the eye of a hurricane does not count as fair weather.)
(2) Pick a pair of sentences, one of which is stronger than the other in your order and describe (some features of) a possible world that the stronger claim rules out but the weaker one does not. (Notice that, in the first example of 1.2.2, The package will arrive next week rules out a possible world in which the package arrives the week after next but The package will arrive sometime does not rule out such a world.)
