Ungraded assignment for Mon. 4/1: responses

What is the significance of the on-going story of the man out on a raft on the ocean? What does it have to do with the actual story?—RS [E.g., ch.5 p. 9]

On page 12 chapter 5 theres a man talking about a posibble world war three, does anyone think that there'll be a time when international wars cease completely or is peace just unnatainable on a world wide scale? Why, or why not?—PJI

How do you guys think Rorschach views his actions? Does he think they are justified even though he uses unnecessary force in multiple occasions (an example being when Rorschach breaks Moloch's finger for information [ch. 1, p. 16])?—RA

Ch. 5 Pg 18. So obviously Rorschach is kinda crazy, but what do you think about him saying "I abandoned my disguise and became myself" when he donned his costume. He repeatedly throughout the book states he is no longer Kovacs, but Rorschach pretending to be Kovacs. Thoughts?—KW

My question comes from chapter 5 page 28 and on into chapter 6. Rorschach refers to the mask as his face. It seems to me that Rorschach is hiding his past behind the mask. What are some ways people do this in real life and are these ways better or worse?—CD

In chapter six Rorschach goes into vivid detail about a certain case of a kidnapper that he brutally killed. Do you think that there are certain instances where court should be on the streets, so to speak? is there too much red tape, or is our legal system the best system?—LK

On page 28 of chapter 6, the page ends with a quote of Nietzsche "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster/ and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you". Has Rorschach became what he hunts? Has he stared into the abyss and has seen it stare back?—KM

In the letter by Walter Kovacs between chapters 6-7. Why do you think he spoke so highly of his father.—SM
