Send me one idea for our first discussion of Goffman before 8 am Fri. As with other such assignments, it’s enough to send me a few words indicating a topic, but please include a specific page reference.
The suggestions for ideas offered on the last assignment still apply, but you might look also for features of the writing. These will not make for the same sort of discussion as other ideas, so questions are best here—e.g., “Why does he organize a paragraph this way?” or “How could he have put this better?”
Finally, if you want a review exercise on Goffman, the paragraph in the middle of p. 65 summarizes the previous sections one by one. Goffman’s description of them at this point is new enough that thinking why he describes them as he does here will force you to rethink what he’d said earlier.
